2025 Westella Rosé Pinot $38

Australians are drinking more Rosé than ever before, with domestic wine sales rising by an average of 13 per cent over the past five years, according to a Wine Australia market bulletin last October.
Indeed, Australians are drinking Rosé at a faster rate than even sparkling wine (which has been growing by 2 per cent per year). Many consumers are now finding that well-crafted expressions can be enjoyed all-year-round, not just when the sun is shining.
Westella's bold 2025 Pinot Rosé is a case in point. The wine makes a statement the moment it hits the glass. It's a full rich salmon pink, with the wine's remarkable colour saturation backed up by aromas and flavours that are ripe, well-fruited and mouth-filling. Think cranberry, wild strawberry and red apple.
That makes it a very handy companion at this time of year to a cajun salmon or North African harissa salmon main if you feel inclined to push beyond the ubiquitous salmon steak or cold-smoked salmon. It's certainly got enough horsepower to handle a chilli glaze or spicy smoked paprika element if your protein choice is feathered or furred.
Juicy flavours are backed by fresh natural acidity and a subtle tannin grip. The wine has staying power, too. There's nothing frail about it. It's not one of those pallid Rosés that fades in the glass the longer it's open or the warmer it gets. No siree.
Jacquie and Will Adkins' Westella Vineyard is at Rowella in the Tamar Valley, not far from the Batman Bridge. The couple's very warm and welcoming cellar door is open Thursday – Sunday, and on other days by appointment.
